The 20th Annual National Senior Poets Laureate Poetry Competition for American poets age 50 and older is now open for submissions—almost. Actual window for receipt of entries is 1/1/12 through 6/30/12, but it you send your entries a day or two early, they will be accepted. This is a landmark year for this contest that began as a one-time regional competition in the Ozarks mountains, spread across the U.S., and circled the world.
Al Baker and I announced last year the 2011 edition of GOLDEN WORDS anthology would be the last book we produce in which winners of the SPL contests are published, since our combined age of 151 years was taking a toll. We agreed to produce this final 20th -anniversary contest, with hopes that someone younger would come forth and take it over. That has not happened quite yet, but there is great news!
Barbara Callahan Quin, my gifted former student who now co-produces the White Buffalo Native American Poetry Contest, has volunteered to publish the 2012 GOLDEN WORDS through her Great Spirit Publishing. It will be a paperback edition, plus a possible online edition similar to the great volumes Al Baker produced over the past few years on our website at www.amykitchenerfdn.org.
The 2012 GOLDEN WORDS promises to be spectacular—like all of Barbara’s other publications. So, don’t wait. For the complete online downloadable Rules for the 2012 Senior Poets Laureate Poetry Competition Click Here. Then, read the information that follows to see for yourself why I am thrilled that Great Spirit Publishing will do this year’s anthology, and why I have chosen Great Spirit Publishing to produce my own Shortcuts to Success Series of helpful little books.
Thanks, good luck, and may the muse be with you.
CONGRATULATIONS TO Move over, Shakespeare
