The poem with outline of Kathleen's hands was written for her 5 children, 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. The sketch can be enlarged to life size, regardless of the size of the palm that will fit into it. She shares this idea so you, too, may be inspired to leave an outline of your hands as part of your soul's signature--your legacy of love.

YOUR MOTHER'S HANDS

Put your hands on mine--feel my strength and spirit--
To help show you habits and traits you could inherit.

They've held my babies, and your babies, with much love;
Held them near, and thanked the Lord from above.

Reading stories and fairy tales as they held the book,
Sitting close, and at all the pictures we'd look.

They've cooked your meals, then planted some roses,
Changed diapers, wiped spilled milk and your noses.

When little, these may have given you a swat
If you stomped, glared and said, "I will not!"

These hands have clapped at your many ball games,
Dances, awards, plays or where your direction aimed.

Folded, they've prayed for your health and happiness,
Little Flower; help God watch and give them no less.

Hands that sewed little dresses, costumes, a formal gown,
Did the make-up and marched in a parade as a clown.

With the phone in hand, heard your joys and sorrows,
Through our yesterdays, todays, and tomorrows.

They've helped soothe many patients' pains and fears,
And guided students into rewarding careers.

As adults, these hands and arms hugging your goodbye,
Not wanting to let go, to your world, I cannot deny.

They've even helped build a house of our dream,
For these last years; we are a great team.

When you cross my hands and put me to rest,
Know this life has given me the very best.

Put in them a rosary and a blue flower;
Then it will be time to go, my last hour.

But... put your hands on mine and I'll be here;
Feel my love for you forever, my loved ones so dear.
