LIFE UPLIFTED
Life without the arts
Is life in a shell.
It's cloistered, dull gray,
Ordinary as hell.
Not just restricted
Like a bird with clipped wings,
Without inspiration
Life's a pitiful thing.
Life's a butterfly, trapped.
Its cocoon is its prison,
Too tightly wrapped
Without any vision.
The arts gives one room
To unfurl the wings.
With courage to fly,
Life's a beautiful thing.
