Polliann Nuckolls Thomas

Polliann Nuckolls Thomas, 78, of Hot Springs, succeeds herself as Senior Poet Laureate of South Dakota. She has been the talented older cousin of contest administrator Wanda Sue Parrott since 1935. Polli moved to South Dakota after retiring from apartment management in Omaha, Nebraska. The only child of legendary Iowa high school coach A. C. “Crook” Nuckolls, Polliann was a star on the Glenwood High School girls basketball team. She loves interior decorating, gardening, dogs and cats. She has a daughter, Tami, and grandson Nic and his wife Sierra. Her red- haired mother Lola was the sister of Wanda's red-haired mother, Lois Marie, aka the Cain sisters of Westboro, Missouri. Polliann is a blue-eyed, blonde Capricorn.

Gliding on ice,
