AFTERLIFE
Strange to think
this teapot
will live on
long after me
and someone else
will pour the tea
and maybe
for a fleeting moment
see my image
think of me
there pouring tea
and then the talk
will flow and wash away
that flotsam thought
and they will sit there
drinking tea
around my teapot
without me.
Ricky Rapaport Friesem, 74, Rehovot, Israel, is retired from public relations and documentary filmmaking. She has been “married to the same man for 54 years, a physicist.” She has three sons and 12 grandchildren. In 2007 her poetry collection, Parentheses, won 1st Prize in the Writer’s Digest Contest International Self-Published Book Awards. Numerous Jewish publications have published her work. Her second collection, Laissez-Faire, was published in 2009. She is a Leo.
