A FEW WORDS FROM VERA-JANE . . .

Hello Everyone:

Thank you all who participated this year, both poets and judges alike; without you there would be no SPL competition.

I was pleased to return to a more active role with the Senior Poets Laureate competition with this year’s contest. It has been amazing to see how it has grown and evolved over the years since Wanda Sue Parrott and I founded it.

As always, it is a joy to read the diverse works of poets nationwide and beyond who vie for the top title. Also, as always, it is hard to let each beautiful or profound or humorous or touching—or sometimes a combination of all of these—poem go as we search for The One to hold the SPL title. Some poems--which by consensus may not make the top round--still will remain etched in our minds and hearts. . .and isn’t that what poetry is all about?

Bless you all and keep on making Word Music.
