We voice vowels, let words carry our raft
into the vast sleek ocean of untried expression
glide out, out into literary supra, chisel to shine
stretch the nimbus of word craft precision
and pledge never again to tune a poem flat.

Kaye Voigt Abikhaled, 77, of West Lake Hills, Texas, is a retired executive associate. She was born in Berlin, Germany and immigrated to the U.S. in 1960. Her first volume of poetry Childhood in the Third Reich: World War II and Its Aftermath was published after she retired. She is Counselor for The Poetry Society of Texas. She has two children and five grandchildren. Her astrological sign is Taurus.
