21st Anniversary of the Senior Poets Laureate Poetry Competition

The Diploemat--5

THE POETS’ PAGE in BRIEF…

FAREWELL . . . FOR A WHILE

All good things must and do come to an end,
and so we--Wanda Sue Parrott and Al Baker--
are retiring as producers of the National Annual Senior Poets Laureate
Poetry Competition for American poets age 50 and older.
News about our successor(s) and the contest’s future
will appear in our online December edition of The Diploemat and our website at

www.amykitchenerfdn.org

Thanks for being so wonderful! We will be in touch as new
projects are hatched by our amazing old Aquarian muses.
May the Muse be with you.

Vincent J. Tomeo, 2012 New York Senior Poet Laureate whose identity was stolen from our website, says his legal case is still unresolved and, to date, has cost him more than $17,000. To protect our poets, we stopped publishng photos of all but national and special awards winners. John W. Crawford, 2012 National Senior Poet Laureate, says his appeal of four charges of contributing to the delinquency of minors is proceeding positively in Arkansas. Wanda Sue Parrott’s “Dialogues with Logos” in MIND ACCORDING TO LOGOS--The Brain Reveals its Own Secrets by New Jersey poet, A. Irving Rosenberg, Esq., (Great Spirit Publishing) is a 2013 Pulitzer Prize nominee . Al Baker underwent radiation and chemotherapy this spring for cancer of the esophagus. Prognosis: Good. No cancer. Time to kick back and relax.

This year’s handsome soft cover edition of GOLDEN WORDS will be the final edition produced under the leadership of Wanda Sue Parrott and Al Baker. The photo shown above of the 2013 cover design by Barbara Callahan Quin reveals the glorious book that will commemorate the first 21 years of the National Annual Senior Poets Laureate Poetry Competition for American poets age 50 and older by including the national winning poems since 1994, along with 2013 Senior Poet Laureate and Honor Scroll awards winners, plus Golden Pen, International Diploemat and Scribe’s Scroll award winners. The 2013 edition is special. We guarantee it will bedazzle beholders with its golden glow! Early orders will assure receipt in time to give copies as holiday gifts and/or donate them to local libraries, hospitals and senior centers.
